Return to Imagine IT — Fall Edition

Phase 4

ImagineIT — Phase 4

READING YOUR BOOK  OF CHOICE & PROBLEMATIZING YOUR ImagineIT

IMPORTANT DATES: SEPTEMBER 17 and OCTOBER 10

ImagineIT Phase 4

In this phase, your role is to read the book that you selected out of the three possible (The Dreamkeepers by Gloria Ladson-Billings, Stuck in the Shallow End by Jane Margolis, or What Should I Do? Confronting Dilemmas of Teaching in Urban Schools by Anna Ershler Richert) and problematize your own ImagineIT. You will think of some of the possible issues and dilemmas you may face when implementing your big idea in your school. These dilemmas could be at a classroom level, school level, or even district level – depending on your specific context and project. To help you out, we have structured this project into three segments along with the individual deadlines for each of these segments:

  1. Read your book of choice (before we meet on Sept 17).
  2. As you read, share your thoughts on the book, quotes that you like or that got you thinking, or other resources that it reminded you of, in general, using this shared Google Form. (before we meet on Sept 17).
  3. Problematizing your ImagineIT (Phase 4 write up, due by October 10th): Out of the problems or issues that arose in your book, select one that relates most to your ImagineIT project and school context that you would want to focus on as you look forward to implementing your ImagineIT. Now, focusing on this problem, write a 100 – 200 word summary of what the problem is and start thinking of the possible ways to solve it as you move towards implementing your ImagineIT. Make sure it is posted to your website under ImagineIT>Phase 4 and that you have marked “Done” in the ShareTracker

IMPORTANT: One thing to note when you share your stories/issues/problems — do not use your school’s, students’, parents’, or colleagues’ real names. Use pseudonyms to protect their identities.

Once you have completed Phase 4, be sure to check out Phase 5 so that you can start preparing.
